What if you can determine your student’s future just by the attitude you have towards them?

Our own attitudes and perceptions can sometimes ignore important aspects that we should be aware of with our students as their teachers.  For example, in the video below, our assumptions quickly set in.  We focus on what is present and ignore what is missing, which can possibly clarify the behavior of our students in the classroom.  As a teacher, having clear perceptions and discernment beyond the outward exterior are very important functions for us.

After you watch the video, answer the following question for yourself.  How can you use the broader view of a student to improve your relationships with students?  Why is this important to the student’s academic success in the classroom?

If you take the time to build relationships with each of your students, to understand what they bring to your classroom that maybe isn’t easily seen, you’ll have a much stronger perception of how to educate.

Our mission is intentionally described in a specific order “that every child would have a CARING, prepared, certified teacher.”  It starts with caring.  Caring enough to have an accurate perception of your students and an attitude of confidence that each one can and will learn on their journey.
