Meet Jena

Dr. Jena L. Hawk, Ph.D., is an esteemed instructor at Hartwell, committed to nurturing future K-12 educators with a deep understanding of literature and effective teaching methodologies. She earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration with an emphasis in teaching English from The University of Southern Mississippi in 2014, following her M.A. in Literature (2005) and B.A. in English and Journalism (2003) from the same institution. Dr. Hawk also holds an A.A. from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (2001).

With extensive experience in higher education, Dr. Hawk has been a Language Arts Instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College since 2011, where she also engages in instructional design. Her prior roles include secondary English teacher at Harrison County School District and adjunct instructor at MGCCC. Dr. Hawk’s dedication to fostering a passion for learning and literacy in her students at Hartwell ensures they are well-prepared to become compassionate and knowledgeable educators.
